The Problem in the use of phages as a whole: Whole bacteriophages are able to transfer DNA from one bacterium to another.

This transfer of genetic material or transduction could be responsible for the transmission of pathogenicity determinants and virulence factors, which could lead to the development of a new microbe or even more resistant bacteria. To overcome this problem HYpharm only uses specific phage derived molecules to target and kill bacteria.

The Solution: Hypharm offers the solution for decolonization of deadly antibiotic-resistant bacteria, so called killerbugs.

HYpharm offers a new antimicrobial platform technology to combat bacterial pathogens in a wide range of applications. Due to the novel platform character, the design of specific molecules is possible to target various bacterial species. Even multi-drug resistant or persistent cells can be addressed by the unique mode of action. Designer molecules are partly assembled from cell wall binding and enzymatically active domains. These phage-derived pharmaceuticals contribute to defense bacterial infections.

The Problem: It is a nightmare: A patient goes to the hospital to recover, and catches there so called superbugs or killerbugs that cause a second, often much worse illness. And that happens very often. This dramatic rise in multi-drug resistant infections needs alternative strategies to combat these pathogens.
